Non-Mag

Non-Mag
Non- Mag is a material that is non-magnetic in nature. Stainless Steel and Monel are the two most common in tooling. These materials are used in directional work to prevent or minimize interference from the instruments downhole that are recording direction, speed, angle, etc. Steel body tools can cause a "static"type effect and give false parameters.
What is the purpose of a Partial Wrap Stabilizer

A spirial bladed stab is designed to stiffen the BHA while the string is rotating.

What are Stabilizers for, and how does their gauge affect the string ?

Stabs are used to stiffen the BHA, preventing wobbling down hole. The more full the gauge the more the string will not move, or bend. Full gauge tools are not used in directional work for this reason. The underaged stabs are used to minimize wobble in the string , while still offering flexibility to make a curve.

What is the purpose of a Straight Blade Stabilizer

A Straight Blade Stab is utilized for sliding, when the drill string is not turning, only the bit at the end of the motor has rotation.
